Current Events in the Classroom: The Debt Issue and Riots in London

Are you talking about current events in your classes? Here are some resources that might help you.

The US Debt Crisis and Credit Downgrade
The Learning Network at the New York Times has collected Times-produced articles and infographics on this evolving story. For students in the lower levels, Voice of America has a simplified article and companion audio on the debt ceiling deal.

The London Riots
The BBC's Learning English division has a glossed article and companion audio on the continuing riots in London. NPR is running some human interest stories on the riots. This story is about a historic store that was burned down.

The images are from Boston.com, which typically has great slideshows on major news events.
