TELC Alumni at Barnard

From left to right: Awa, Dominique and SeungHwan.

Editor's Note: We are excited to retract our earlier story about two TELC alumni, and make it a story about three of them.

We are very proud of two three (!) TELC alumni, Dominique Djedjro, SeungHwan Oh, (and we've just learned) Awa Kinde, who were selected to participate in the Intercollegiate Partnership with Barnard this summer. This is a 5-week residential program, and Awa, Dominique and SeungHwan will each take two credit-bearing science courses. This is a great honor, and we wish to congratulate them!

Making Textbooks Cheaper

Textbooks are very expensive, but the web makes it easier for students to buy and sell used copies, or even rent books. PostingBlock is a new resale site that was developed by some LaGuardia grads, and it is geared toward the greater CUNY community; Chegg is a textbook rental service with many ESL titles available. Share this with your students! (I realize the semester is coming to an end, and that this information is not immediately useful - but I will repost it again at the beginning of summer term.)

Share With Students: Transit Of Venus

Photo from The LA Times
It happens on Tuesday, and it won't happen again until 2117! There is a lot of excellent information here about the transit of Venus, where to view it, and how to view it safely. (It might be too late to buy the proper glasses, but you can always make a simple pinhole projector.)
