Some New Activities: The Oscars

We've got two Oscars-themed activities ready to go for the term, with a handful more to come later in the week. I'm drawing my inspiration from the list of Best Picture nominees, since that list seems to be particularly diverse this year - I figure there's something to pique most people's interest.

The activity on Lincoln begins with a reading and some comprehension questions; the introduction to the film's Wikipedia article serves as input. A trailer on Hulu serves as audio for a vocabulary/reading exercise; the vocabulary is appropriate for higher levels. This activity introduces the 13th Amendment and the abolition of slavery, so you might be able to work those topics into your lessons.

The activity on Django Unchained contains comparatively simpler vocabulary, though the accents in the film clip may provide students with a good challenge. Again, the film's Wikipedia article is used for reading comprehension, and a trailer on Hulu provides input for listening.
