Please remember to log out of your personal accounts when you are using shared computers, like in the classrooms or in the Media Center. I've found a few computers recently that were logged in to personal accounts - and I logged them out quickly. Here is your friendly reminder!

We created two activities for the spring term: one based a popular song with simple lyrics, appropriate for lower level students, and another based on a clip from a TV sitcom, which is more appropriate for higher level students.
The song activity uses the song "Ho, Hey" by The Lumineers. The exercise is a cloze with a focus on verb forms. Since the song has a very simple structure and is currently very popular, I think it will be accessible to students at the lowest levels. If you are interested in hearing another version of the song, here is a recent clip from the show Nashville, where two characters performed it.
The TV clip activity asks students to do some close listening to a fast-paced conversation with some interesting vocabulary and idiomatic language. There are discussion questions that follow that encourage students to think about stereotypes about Americans, capitalism, and how to understand satire in another language.
